Abbol.com and Savusa (South Africa - Vrije Universiteit - Strategic Alliance) have agreed to a partnership in order to research the possibilities of a joint project by the name of SANDiCo.
The objective of SANDiCo (South Africa Netherlands Digitising Coalition) is to digitise scientifically and historically relevant archival (and library) material of the South African universities in the SAVUSA-network, to benefit 'a culture of research', related academic publishing and sustainable preservation purposes.
The digitising project will basically consist of the following points:

Savusa
South Africa is an important focus point of the internationalisation policy of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), as a logical consequence of the long-standing relations between the VU and South Africa.
SAVUSA has been developed in 2002. Its key objective is to stimulate academic cooperation between VU-faculties and universities in South Africa by facilitating scientific publications on both staff and student level.
